Quite by accident the other day, I read on Wikipedia that the eternally wonderful Annie Nightingale was born on April 1st.
It's not a landmark birthday for her this year, but that was still all the excuse I needed to knock up a list of some of my (and your?) favourite tunes from her long-discontinued and sadly-missed Sunday evening request show on Radio 1 (1982-1994).
In the event I found enough material from the usual sources to fill two hour-long lists rather than the one usual "CD length" one, so here's part one for you. There's nothing newer than the early '90s on here, for obvious reasons, but what a joy it's been to revisit them all again.
